Web Design for Web Developers

Web design refers to the design of websites that are displayed on the internet. It usually refers to the user experience aspects of website development rather than software development.

A web designer works on the appearance, layout, and, in some cases, content of a website. They may also be involved in creating code and general programming but their main aim is to create a site that will be easy for users to navigate around and look good.

A common mistake when designing a website is using too many flashy elements or colors which can distract from your message or cause your site visitors not to read important information such as contact details etc… Web designers use any tools available such as Photoshop, Gimp, HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc…

To become a web designer you first need to learn some HTML and CSS. HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is the language used to create web pages.

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets provides instructions on how HTML documents should be styled.

Once you have learned these you can start practicing designing websites, however before you begin to try thinking of an idea for your next project so that you know what direction you will go with the design, also the simpler it is the easier it will be to code!

You can then either self-teach yourself using online tutorials such as www.w3schools.com/ etc… Or if you would prefer a more personal learning experience that aims specifically at web design seek out one of many courses or degrees that address this topic.

Once you feel like you have a good grasp on the basics it is worth practicing designing around your own personal interests such as photography or music so that you can get ideas from what other people in your industry are doing and maybe even get some work!

Web designers use any tools available such as Photoshop, Gimp, HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc… But one of the most popular design programs out there today is Adobe’s Creative Suite also known as CS.

This suite includes much different software’s to help with web design e.g photoshop, illustrator, and flash. The current version of the Creative Suite is CS6.

Not only does this suite contain programs that can help with your web design, but it also includes programs that are aimed towards video editing and 3D modeling.

Once you have learned how to use some of these resources, you must practice! It is important to keep practicing in order to develop new skills and get experience.

Web designers constantly need to be learning new things, no matter what level they are on because new technology emerges all the time – what used to be cutting edge could now be obsolete!

Web Designers don’t just make websites look pretty, their main goal is for users of the website to easily navigate around the site without any.

This means that they want people to find the information they are looking for with as little hassle as possible.

Therefore web designers try to make websites look aesthetically pleasing whilst keeping everything easy to use and useful.

This is a very complicated balance to achieve, however, if one of these sides outweighs the other, it can result in a user-unfriendly website which would be pointless to the site owner.

The main aim for a person who is trying to be a web designer is that they want their designs to have depth and character, this means that your design doesn’t just have 2D images plastered on there with no relevance towards each other whatsoever, instead, you should include some 3D elements such as drop-down menus or buttons with shadows, etc… but don’t go overboard as you want to still keep it simple.

There are many things that a person who is trying to be a web designer must include within their sites such as navigation bars, search widgets, video, and image galleries – just to name a few! These things help the user find the information they need and easily navigate around your site which ultimately results in keeping them on your website for longer and lessening the chances of them leaving and going elsewhere.

These other aspects that should be included in most if not all websites are social media icons, these help users share your content via Facebook, Twitter, etc… Which will obviously drive more traffic towards your site! You can also have contact details or even subscribe options for updates/news.

Web design is a constantly changing industry, which means that it can be difficult to keep up with the latest trends.

This tends to cause frustration for many web designers, but without change, you will never get better! Consistent changes are also important in order to stay relevant within your industry and help differentiate yourself from any competition you might have.

So in order for someone who is trying to learn how to become a web designer, there are many things they would need to focus on such as HTML, CSS, typography, photography/image creation, and many more!

However, the most important factor in my opinion – or at least when I was learning how to do this – was your ability to think outside of the box, because by having this skill you will be able to make your site stand out more than others.

A good example of when it is important to be able to think outside of the box would be in order to create a standard banner advertisement, you might just go with the usual blue links and white background, etc… but by thinking outside of that box you can bring in some creativity!

You could use bright colors, the gradient’s or even add images if you wanted which instantly makes it look different from other websites at first glance!

There are many software’s out there that can help web designers create amazing-looking designs, but my personal favorite has to be Adobe’s Creative Suite also known as CS.

This suite includes much different software’s to help with all aspects of web design which is what makes it so great. The two software’s which are perfect for web designers are Photoshop and Illustrator.

Photoshop is the software I have used in most tutorials so far, this program lets you do anything from creating images, photo manipulation, icon creation to even designing entire websites!

But one of the main features of this program is its ability to help you create responsive designs… meaning that it will work just as fine on a desktop computer as it would on your phone or tablet.

This can be achieved by using CSS within photoshop, although it’s still very much recommended to learn how to code properly before getting into photoshop if possible.

Now onto Illustrator! This is a vector graphic program that lets you create logos, icons, and even entire vector images! From what I can remember, it pretty much has all of the same features as photoshop however they are different programs.

There are many other software’s out there that can help web designers such as Adobe Spark (formerly known as ‘Page Creator’), Gimp & Sketch. They all have their own unique ways to help with web design which usually makes them more specific in certain areas than others.
